So, what are you missing?

Post by Becca Reardon on Mon Sep 29, 2008 7:38 am

I have to wonder, what does everybody miss the most so far, since we're pretty far into our first highschool year. Out of all of your VSN memories, what do you miss the most. For me, I would have to say I miss teachers like Mr.Eastwell and Mr.Willis. I also kind of miss the fact that I had all the same people in my classes all day, so I didn't have to have separate groups of friends.

I guess I miss 3rd grade the most. It was really nice to have only 18 people in the class. That in no way implies that I liked Wiley, but I really wish Mr. Flieshman had stayed there for 4th and 5th grade.
I also miss the fact that by 8th grade everybody knew each other so well...but I guess I can't complain when there are only 47 other freshmen at my school.

Me? I miss...well, I'm afraid I can't say that I miss that much...I mean, not to be harsh, really. But I do miss all the wonderful people in our classes, and I miss my other friends that aren't here at ECG, and I just miss the overall happiness/jokes/etc. that our vsn classes had.
Honestly, there really isn't much else that I miss. The hallways are something I'm glad I don't have to deal with...and you know what's weird? I kind of miss the drama that normal schools have. I mean, I don't really mind not having the drama, it sure makes life easier. But at ECG, most everyone is one of those little angelic kids...well, not really, but you get the idea. No fights, no big issues, no social drama. I don't miss it that much, but I'm not completely glad, for lack of a better word, that it's gone.
When I think back to middle school and elementary school, all my memories are like photographs or little videos, you know? Just like a small personal scrapbook that I carry around with me all the time, and it always makes me smile when I think back to all the good times we had together...because those are the memories and events that made us who we are today and brought us to where we are right now: a strong friendship that will never be forgotten but is simply there for old times' sake.

Lily, I know exactly what you mean. I remember the tiny little frames of our everyday lives and little exerpts from regular conversation. I really miss third grade, and things like Wiley World. It all seems so, for lack of a better word, perfect and serene. Like our own little separate piece of the world. It all seems almost like a dream.

Exactly like a dream. Like faded photographs of forgotten times, except in this case, they're not forgotten. Almost as if they never happened, yet we know that they did. And we had fun when it happened. And when it was still.

Heh heh. I miss Wiley World. And then I remember how they kept putting more and more mulch around the playground, so they buried those yellow bouncy things, and then when we tried to dig them back up the staff got mad at us.

It's kind of like those scenes you see in movies when characters are having flashbacks. kind of.
I miss you all, and I hope we'll all be able to see each other again sometime.

Sticking with the ECG mantra, there is no drama because you don't have time for drama! Though I would love it if people thought a little more rationally at Grimsley...but hey, a good laugh is a good laugh.

I miss my elementary school years most, for many reasons. Mostly being that they are farthest away and I don't want to forget them. They represent a simpler time, with simpler subjects, and simpler. . . busing schedules. Glad I walk home now xP. From middle school, I miss Mr. Eastwell. That is all. Oh, and my friends. Those too!

Ah...but I have more time than other kids here, so that's true too...I guess we don't have time for that much drama. Although, I have to say, most of the people here still procrastinate...just because it's ECG doesn't mean everyone is passing with flying colors.
Oh yes, elementary school was wayy simpler, and I miss that...our World History book is sooo annoying now. If only we could go back to those easy, happy times.

Ahem. I actually don't mind World now. I think I like it better than Civ...it's more interesting and not as, for lack of a better word, happy...Like you know how the Civ book defines "enormous" and other words that should already be common knowledge?
And I also miss how in elementary school we did field trips often. And we went to the Science Center at least 3 times a year.

World book is boring. But that's my opinion. Mostly because of the notes. Civics is better for me, because it uses words/sentences I can actually understand without struggling. You know, those words aren't actually the "vocabulary" of the book though; they're just there.
Oh field trips. Dude, I'm going to SAN FRAN this year because of HMC...and if I actually do robotics, I'll be going to Atlanta! Not to brag or anything...but really, just pointing out that clubs do take us places.
One more week til ECG fall break. Too bad I probably won't be able to drop by Grimsley or anything...
